About us

Life Institute For Endoscopy (LIFE) founded by Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu in July 2010, began the BASIC COURSE IN MINIMAL ACCESS SURGERY, with a vision to provide quality training, excellent treatment and enhance development of Minimal access surgery in Nigeria and Africa. This is to be achieved through a proper awareness creation, promotion and training and retraining of doctors in the act of minimal access surgery.

The institute lays emphasis on the acquisition of Minimal Access Surgery Skills by Doctors: Gynaecologists, Surgeons, Resident doctors and Medical officers; as well as Peri-operative nurses and medical instrument technicians.

Studies have shown that mere observing cases or assisting a surgeon does not translate to being a minimal Access Surgeon. Minimal access techniques and skill acquisition need “hands on” training under specialized guidance using Endo trainers and animals (advanced course).

The institute has trained over 200 medical professionals, ranging from Doctors, Anaesthetists, Nurses, Instrument Technicians;  equipping them with standard MAS procedural technique that can be obtained in any part of the world. Also the trainees are taken through a session of live operative and diagnostic cases. This afford our doctors the privilege to participate in live sessions usually denied them when they travel abroad for the same training
